Default counter sunk shifter?

is that what it's called? where you have a lever under the shifter so you pull up and shift into revers rather than push the shifter down and to reverse? Anyone have it setup? easy to install and function.. how do you like it..

No, a countersung shift knob is where the knob is drilled out inside so it can screw down on the threads further than the stock one in effect making it a shorter throw. The thing you're talking about probably can't be done without heavy modification to the gearbox.

"Countersunk" is not the correct terminology to use here. You are looking for the old style Corvette reverse lockout device where there was a "T" handle that was pulled up to access the reverse gate. You would have to re-design the whole shifter stick base assembly to incorporate such a device. We already have a lockout of sorts. It is very difficult to enter the reverse gate so long as the car is moving, either forward or in reverse. Why do want such a "T" device? For looks?

yes, i have this setup in my SAAB. not sure how easy to install that was.. but i think the swedish auto workers did a fine job on this mod. and if you want, you too! can buy a SAAB. i find it equally as annoying as pushing down the lever for the reverse lockout, but not as notchy/harsh as the S2000 setup..

i was just thinking this might be easier, pulling up a "t-bar" rather than pshing down on the shifter.. nothing huge, jsut heard about it, and wanted to find out more..
thanks

My Ford Focus has one. And the Supra Turbo does too.

It's always fun watching the valet guys try to put it into reverse. I can see them struggling.

As far as personal preference, I prefer the T-ring to pull up.

I prefer people getting in and trying to turn the key to start it.

but i have to admit, the first time i had to get gas, i pulled in and looked for the gas door release for a couple minutes before I finally pulled out the owners manual...
i found the gas door release before i found the trunk release button.
