CPO Rules
To be eligible for certification, the car must be less than 6 years old and have less than 80,000 miles. The certification itself is a 7 year, 100,000 mile warranty.

It just doesn't make sense that they would have dropped the certification. I sent them an email asking for a better explanation as to why the certification was removed.
The certification also includes a 1 year/12,000 on:
# Steering
# Suspension
# Electrical
# Air Conditioning
# Heating and Cooling
# Fuel System
# Switches
# Audio Repairs (Honda audio systems only)
# Sensors
Which is more the appeal.
I certainly wouldn't pay if they're going to charge extra. If anything, I'm kinda hoping they drop the certification and the price. As of current, they seem to have only dropped the certification.

LOL @ drop the certification. they spent money getting the car fully inspected, they want to get at least some money back from that. it is worth it, peace of mind. my s2k is CPO'd for another 9 months. according to KBB, certification is worth around $500.
They probably can CPO it, but they don't want to. The CPO process is expensive, and it's unlikely there's enough margin in the car to justify the cost of doing it. Any system that is not up to par for the CPO status has to be replaced. Brakes, Battery, Fluids, Filters, Tires, Lighting. No DMV reported accidents. The dealer has to use Genuine Honda replacement parts and pay AHM $360-$560 for the CPO warranty registration when the car is reported sold. It's a great deal for the consumer if they can get it. But if you're if really concerned about a warranty you can get a HondaCare extended warranty which is "superior" to the CPO warranty.
From the sounds of it, they already did the inspection process associated with the CPO, but because we rolled into 2010 that can't actually offer the CPO with the sale anymore. For the 2 months the car was offered for sale in 09, they were able to offer the warranties.
Atleast that's what they're saying...
