I just thought it was ridiculously overpriced and the fact that it didn't have a soft top was stupid...and I still think that.

I wasn't a big fan when it first came out, but a CR was my other option when I ended up w/ the NC. I really wanted white or blue only, and couldn't find the right deal within a reasonable distance.

I'm expecting the CR will easily be the most desirable S2000 variant 10+ years down the road.

LO FREAKING L!!!

It's hilarious to see how many of those guys either have CR parts or have CRs now.

You know what, though...I hated the CR when it was first debuting. I saw the pics and it looked baaaaad.

In person, however, the car looked freaking awesome. When I first saw it at the stealer, I thought "meh..not so bad".

Then it got into my brain. Now I love it. After a recent track...incident...I'm going with CR front body parts on my AP1.

Just like anything new with the s2000 everyone will hate for a while then accept it. For example, v2 wheels are soo ugly v1 is better.. v3 wheels are soo ugly v2 is better, ap1's are better car then ap2, ap2 base is a better car then ap2 CR... Must I continue.
lol you pretty much hit that one on the head, dude. I think it's just that the car feels so good that everyone is against changing it.

I think you find that with anything that works really well. For example, on my AP1, every year, I find that my alignment/height/damper/tire/brake pad setup is THE BEST it can ever get at the track. Then it gets better the next year and I wonder how the F I ran with the garbage that I ran with in prior years lol.

When I first saw an Apex Blue CR at the Chicago Auto Show a few years back, I thought it was the ugliest thing I had ever seen. The fluorescent lights made the colors look terrible. But seeing it in natural sunlight, it's stunning.

The bodywork looks much more aggressive in person as well. Then there's also the issue of the CR being as cheap as a base S to buy. That changes things a little as well. But I mostly agree that it's grown on me. I think Evo IXs are sweet now, too....

I think the fact that they were selling for CHEAPER than the base model while still brand new turned a few people around. Although I didn't hate it anywhere nearly as bad as some, it looked a little odd to me but it does come together in person and it certainly grew on me. If it had a softtop, it would've been a tough choice for me when I bought my '08... well, maybe not back then but it certainly would be now. And sometimes I do wish I got the CR front lip instead of the standard one.
