Cure to a mid-life crisis?
I have an S2000 on order that should hopefully get here in a couple of weeks. I plan to use it as a daily driver most of the time instead of my Dodge RAM. My kids are in year round school, so every 9 weeks or so, there will be a 3 week period where I have to drop them off at camp in the mornings. Those mornings, I'll have to drive the RAM so we can all fit. I'm also keeping the RAM because of the occasional hauling I have to do; however, as a daily driver, I think the S2000 will actually end up being more practical not to mention much more fun.
I'm 41, and I haven't decided yet whether this is in fact a mid-life crisis car or if it's just something I decided I had to have.

One who uses his S2k as a daily driver all year long.
Hey AmarD!
Congratulations on your new purchase. Make sure you check out the Pacific Northwest Owners under the clubs section. I think Shamu is arranging for a meet in the Vancouver area on May 11th. It would be kind of cool if you could join us!

AmarD,
Way to go. You made a wise choice. I've had my '02 Susuka Blue Beauty for a few weeks now, and it just feels better the more I drive it, even the gas mileage. I drive approx. 75 miles a day here in the Bay Area, and I love it. There is nothing like cruising across the Golden Gate Bridge with the top down. I can fit 4-5 bags of groceries in the front seat/trunk area, my gas mileage is approaching 28-30 mpg. I baby this car, but on the open highway 280, it's the frickin' Autobahn, and I feel as if I'm in a jet fighter cockpit, and I let 'er rip. It's been mentioned before that it should be a motor-felony to drive this car in-town. It needs to breathe on the open road.
Besides this, I've lost track of how many thumbs up I've received, "cool car!" comments, I've even had someone drive past me on the freeway with a hand-written sign, saying "Yea!" But please don't call this car "cute." This ain't a Miata or a TT. A woman called my car "cute" and I almost lost it.
Oh, and more than likely, you'll get a lot of folks asking about the specs, so I've had to really bone up on those, just to act like I know what I bought!
Enjoy the ride!!

This car Is the cure for the common commute!!!! I LOVE getting in my car in the morning and just admiring the beauty of the red leather interior!! I have the Comptech Stainless Steel Cat-Back Exhaust system and a neighbor states she "knows when to get up" when she hears me drive by!!!!
Congratulations to you
The fun factor of this car is completely over the top!! Regarding weather, I live in Seattle and the car is absolutely water tight. I use the 303 Aerospace Protectant on the top and it works great.
Enjoy your ride!!

I'm WAY past the mid-life crisis point, but confess that once it hit me, it never quit. Car did not cause a return to sanity either. But if I gotta be a nutcase, may as well drive the most fun car I've ever had. Oh yeah, if your mistress cost you more than your car, you've got the wrong mistress. You sure as hell got the right car and a mistress looks great in that passenger seat (not that I have any personal experience, of course).
I've had sports cars or at least "sporty" cars most of my life. TR-3A, AH 3000, Hotted-up 69 Dodge Charger, VERY hotted-up 50 Mercury; mildly modified 89 TBird SC; and now the S2k. Of all of them, the S2k is the most fun.
I use it as a daily driver and I've put 20,000 miles on it in 15 months.
Re leakage: Despite the owner's manual saying it's a no-no, I regularly take it through high-pressure car washes and never a problem. Oh, yeah, there was once that I got a few drops from the joint on the passenger side when the pressure was the highest. We don't have that much snow/ice in Louisville, KY, but I got a hard top anyway and leave it on during the winter. You may want to do that as well, if for no other reason than the built-in defroster in the glass.

The S2K is a virtual cure-all for any and all types of crisis. And what can be better than making two trips to the grocery store if you really have to? (BTW - $200 of groceries fits easily but that may be a functions of bad shopping
)
I spend a lot of time on the road and it's always nice to have the S2K ready for the run home from the airport.
