I'm thinking mine was stainless to then? still very shiny when I looked under the other day.

Although this isn't a complicated procedure, I still went to a well known domestic performance shop who specialized in exhaust and they took their time and did eveything clean. Welds were clean and perfect. Paid a few extra dollars, around 48 after taxes but again expert job. Remember this is your S!!

With cutting out the resonator, would you see hp gains or just more noise?

Took my S to a local muffler shop for the removal of the resonator...took about 30 minutes and only cost $25 --- and $15 was for the pipe!! Basically, the car is just slightly louder -- hard to tell from stock.
My initial reaction: Should have done it sooner!!

Exactly my same story, took the same time and cost the same amount, I got it done today, I drove with my friends track model 350z for the last 45 min and I can say for a fact that it does not sound like a 350z. I think it sounds a lil rattely for my taste I am thinking I might have a very small exhaust leak. It also might be more noticable out side of the car cause I have not really had a chance to inspect it with someone else pressing the pedal so I am not sure how I really think about it, but all in all, it was cheap, fast and will hold me off until I get my Comptech installed later this year!

Combine it with an Intake and you get more of a growl deeper toan. Not sure if everyone will get the same nice tone result though so take it to a reputable place. I still love my sound. Made me smile tonight listening to it all the time. Sounds so deep and loud when I step on it like an afermarket exhaust but not annoying loud.

Its pretty much noise for results but again people who have dynoed with this mod have dynoed consistently higher than other people with the same other mods minus the resonator mod. Usually 2HP or so at the max. In the real world this isn't anything though.

****Remember make sure you go to a quality place to have this done, not some cheap weld job which could result in a leak or shitty sound.****

This was my problem, I went back and told them it was leaking, they fixed it and POOF, no more ricey sound. I LOVE the sound of my exhaust now, I get why people say it sounds *LIKE* a 350z but its not dead on as most would guess.

I SUGGEST THIS MOD TO ANYONE !

$25 my cost

Well I just read this thread this morning and went out and got it done on my lunch break. $25 bucks at Issaquah muffler & brakes.

It pretty much sounds the same. Just more throatiness at 4500+ rpms and a little higher volume. Having driven a G35 Coupe for some time, the exhaust is no where near the same. But it does sound a bit better than stock. Worth the money, eh... it was only $25 bucks... so why not. I was in a modding mood, so that mod helped keep me from buying that $1400 buddy club coilover set i had in my other browser window. So if you look at it that way... it was a great mod.
