Default Dashboard Adhesive- Help

I got a little backlit clock to put on the dash because I keep the stereo door closed when I drive. I wanted to mount in on the dash ( like to the right of the climate controls) but the tape it came with wouldn't stick to the dash material very well. I got some stronger stuff from an auto parts shop, but that won't work either. Anybody have any suggestions....I don't want to screw the thing in, but I'm running out of hope for adhesive.

Ok if ya ever used armor all the adhesive will not work. What ya gotta do is clean the spot ya want to stick with some rubbing alchol. Let it dry repeat procedure two to three times. High stick adhesive is good.....but high heat adhesive is needed....in the summer the car can get so hot that the adhesive sorta softens up an does not stick to well
Ya won't have a problem if the clock is light but if it has any wieght the high heat type stuff is better.....I know for a fact velcro strips can be bought with high heat adhesive. Good luck......I've learned over time adhesive and automotive plastics don't work to well together........But you can make it work...hope this helps

I used velcro on mine. You can't just use a little piece of velcro, you have to pretty much cover most of the back of the clock (except the battery door). You cut the mate to match a stick it to the dash or the radio door.

It worked well for me.

Do what "ItalianBucwheat" just said and see how it lasts.
I learned a little "secret" just last week from my Honda parts guy. I went to get some automotive trim double sided adhesive tape. He just gave me about a foot of it for free. Now, this stuff is already stronger than your "average bear" BUT he also gave me a little pouch with a tiny sponge inside soaked in "auto trim adhesive ACCELERANT". You take this sponge and lightly moisten the area you wish to stick something to. You kinda blow dry it with your breath but only a little bit (it stays moist). You then stick the object that has the tape already on it and hold it there for a few seconds. IT IS ON THERE BUT GOOD!

WARNING! The accelerant is BENZENE and what it does is "molecularly" roughs up (or partially chemically melts) the vinyl or plastic to make the tape stick to it like crazy. I believe removing this tape would almost be impossible and might leave a mark so you better really want this thing on there.
