Mulder, I agree with you... Don't nag Honda about quality control. Think about what you're getting for your money with an S2000, and realize how lucky we are this thing even exists.

That said, apparently they've changed material or perhaps quality has deteriorated recently in this specific interior area. I've never heard of any bubbling like this before in 4+ years on the board. I've heard of windshield caulking buckling (exterior), but not this.

F-MINUS, who were you talking about? When you make a statement like that, please give us the details. The only official acknowledgement Honda can make of a problem is a TSB or a recall; I have seen neither.

...what's TSB?

Also, I still would like to know if this bubbling is just inherent in all 06s, because what's the point of changing it if it'll just bubble again in 5 months? It'd be a huge hassle to go in for a new dashboard every 5 months and then have them see that I've voided my warranty (I'm looking into installing an in-dash navi).

I haven't ever heard of dash board bubbling until model year 2006. A TSB is a service bulletin, not to be confused with a recall.

ive had the same problem since this summer, and have posted about my
bubbling 06 dash a few times also...

like alot of other 06-ers here, im reluctant to have my dash replaced
for fear of dealership screw ups, or even more problems arising from
the getting it serviced...

in my obsessive searching on the boards, i read that the last time this occured
was with earlier ap1's and it seemed to be coming from spotty or lack of
foam insulation beneath the dash skin, so when when the temps get hot enough
the uninsulated spots get pushed up...

also if you push down on the bumps, you will feel that they go in past the surface,
as if theyre holes beneath... so that is a good indication of manufacturing defect...

anyway, i cant deal with it anymore and decided to just have a reputable dealer
take care of it when my next oil change is due...

i figure if it causes more problems, i'll just keep taking it back till its right,
the mental perfection is worth it imo!

My MY00 had it and I took it to the dearler and got it replaced. Just make sure that they keep your VIN # when they throw out your old dash. It is impossible to get a replacement VIN badge from Honda.

here is my problem. I thought the bumbs came from the car wash, something they used to clean my dash. So i cut my dash to put in a dvd player. Do you think they will replace mine or tell me its my fault cuz of the dvd player?

mine has the same thing, here's what i think it is.

after the first wash i gave my car, i tried to give it a complete interior detail. i used the armor all wipes and the very next morning, it got the measles! not bothering me to much anymore though, just something to live with. besides, just b/c they changed it may not be it has any improvement.

My 00 had the bubbling dash. I took it to the dealer when it was still under warranty and they replaced my dashboard. New dashboard has no VIN (which I think is better for security reasons).

I got my car smogged not too long ago and the smog guy says that hes seen plenty of cars with missing vin plates. As long as you still have the VIN sticker in the door jam you're cool.

Take it back to the dealer and get it replaced. Doesnt cost a penny.

its only an issue with the 2006's for some reason.
Not just 06, my 4 week old 07 has it too, lol. Not noticeable (yet) unless I really look for it.
