Forget to add. Since it's ur own responsibility to deal w/ UPS, you're asking A & J a favor to help you file a claim through UPS. But you sound like they rip you off and not being polite. To make sure the package was sent, it's your own responsibility. The way to check is.. trace it urself w/ the tracking number they provided.

So first, you check it, it says oh "delievered".
Then you ask your brother to go pick it up for you but he says not there.
Then you should call UPS! UPS will probably say "we dropped it off"
Then next thing suppose to be "oh damn.. it got stolen!"

Because according from them, it has been delievered. And if it's not sitting in front of you house, then too bad. Someone is your nice neighborhood must have stolen it. Also before the seller ship it, you should have told him to give special instruction to UPS let's say "dont' leave it at front door because no one will be home" or "I will go to UPS facility to pick it up myself" But instead, you didnt' do jack.. now u're blaming the seller. That's just not right.

Anyways, good luck

Midnightsuns, First of all.. I think if the tracking number status says "Delivered", u're the one who is responsible for it. Second of all, when you were about to purchase the product from the seller, you should have requested the buyer to buy an insurance, if not... the seller doesnt' have to be responsible for jack.
thats my take on it too..

that once i give you a tracking number, and once that website says "delivered"... my end of the deal is done.

but on the other hand... midnight only wants the seller to file a claim, which i can understand since the seller is the only one who can do that.

Ok here we go, I'm not blaiming DC_AP1 for it being stolen or lost or whatever the happened to it. I am simply peeved because the effort to correct the situation has not been there. I payed extra money to RECEIVE the item I purchased like anyone else I would like to receive the Item I payed for. If I was selling an item and someone pays me to deliver it that's what I'm going to do, ensure that it gets there no matter what because that is what I'm being payed to do. ie buy insurance. Why would you insure it partially anyways? might as well not insure it at all. Besides the point though, I'm simply peeved like I said because I gave up a grand total of 1930.00 for a set of 1800.00 brakes and then the shipper partially insures it, the courier just leaves it at the door without a signature(yes they have no signature on file for an insured delivery) , and now I am being told that I'm screwed and that I bought at my own risk and now I have to deal with a company that says they can't deal with me because I'm not the shipper. So pretty much I'm screwed. GREAT BUSINESS I hope all my transactions go this way.

Also I used to deal Nissan parts, the seller is being paid to not only provide a good but also to insure that it is received by the buyer. I hope all sellers don't think the way you do.

DC,
Rule #1 Customer is always right
Rule #2 If customer is wrong then go back to rule #1.

If you practice these rules you will never loose any s2ki memeber. Maybe you might loose alittle (take a business loss it is tax write off) but overall you will have more business and more happy customers.

OK, something isn't clear here -

Was this a private transaction between you and DC AP1? and DC used A&J's account to ship it due to convenience?

Or was this a trasaction with A&J themselves?

also since when does UPS leave an insured package at the doorstep??? This has been a nightmare, a 1930.00 nightmare. To clear things up to my understanding this was a personal transaction that was sent out through A&J's account I believe or at least I'm assuming because Ben pm'd asking what exactly was going on. So to my knowledge A&J is in the clear. Also once again to the guy earlier, would you be polite if you were still out 1930.00 after 3 months????? Put yourself in my shoes

If that is the case, then I think you are VERY VERY WRONG from even mentioning A&J's name in this mess. BRUTAL

They are one of the most respected vendors on this site - and to slander them they way you did is unacceptable - even if you do subsequently edit your posts to exclude their name.......

and further, to expect or assume the item to be insured during a PRIVATE sale is pretty far fetched. For the 10 or so private transactions I've ever done, I always bring up the issue of insurance.....why? because it obviously costs more in the shipping charges. The value of the item wasn't arbitrarily set at $700 - that just doesn't make any sense - you obviously asked them to de-value the item to save a few bucks at customs.

As far as UPS goes - leaving a package in view enough for it to be stolen - i find that very odd as well.

it is the responsibility of the seller to make sure the package gets to the customer. if the package is delivered to the wrong location, though the package is "delivered," the customer still has not recieved the goods. this is the fault of the shipper, UPS, and I believe they have already determined to make good on their mistake, all they need is a report from the seller.

I did not find out the truth behind A&JR's involvement until after the post was posted, I even stated that I am not out to get AJR I have already had contact with Ben to rectify the situation.
