well, regardless of who's fault it is, i hope you get this resolved.

Let that be a lesson for the rest of us - if you know a package is coming to your house, because you obviously know when its close when you're using online tracking -

1) make sure you're home to receive the package
2) make sure someone else is home to receive the package
3) if you know that no one will be there - leave a note on the door NOT to leave the package on your doorstep - especially if its a box with SPOON SPORTS written all over it
4) call the local UPS outlet and arrange something.

I've always done one of the above 4 things, and I've never lost a package.

People: UPS has already accepted responsibility, its their fault!!

the problem is, the seller is reluctant to fill out the paper work with UPS.
How well do you know the situation??
How many times do you think I've called UPS for Midnightsuns?
How many times do you think UPS has come up with the answer "Don't worry, the buyer has called me already, we are SENDING the papers"
How many times do you think I've b!tched at the guy from UPS?
How many times do you think I've checked online for a claim form?

Answer THOSE questions, and THEN maybe you can call me reluctant.

earlier you posted that you called UPS and that they wanted a ytou to give them a claim from the buyer. so thats 1 time!
are you using UPS World Ship? or just the website?
have you tried contacting your local UPS Rep?

for the record, shipping insurance exists to protect the seller/shipper not the buyer/reciever.

I hate when this stuff happens, I've sold tons of stuff on ebay and here. It's virtually nothing to get insurance on an item. For $1800 on UPS, it probably would have been less then $8. Everyone, whether the buyer requests insurance or not, avoid headaches and shell out the money. It's even free for the first $100.

If the buyer asked the seller to undervalue the parts to minimize duty/taxes, then the buyer is taking the risk of possible loss. It's not the problem of the seller.

As long as DC_AP1 returns the 700 to the buyer, he does not have to be responsible for anything.

Question, and I think this is the crux of the matter. DID midnightsuns request only $600 in insurance to lower overall cost? He says no, it seems DC_AP1 says yes. Is this true guys? And please, just for ease of translation, only those two guys answer my question, nobody speak for them. Set me straight.
