But he says he didn't, how does that change things in your opinion?
I am really sorry this happned to you bro, I have been there, so I can say I know how you feel. My only suggestion is you get in contact with Ben, aka AJ PwR, and hopefully you guys can reach a settlement for the case.
I am sure you will be more careful in the future. Good luck man!

Now, even if the buyer did ask to lower the value to save money on customs, it is the seller who actually broke the law by doing so. He should have refused.

If I buy furniture from Walmart and the delivery truck crashes en route, Walmart doesn't come to me and say, sorry, the truck crashed, you dont get your furniture or your money.

Please tell me you don't regularly buy furniture from Walmart.
You are absolutely correct: nobody here has all the facts - not even DC AP1. There has been a little floundering in the story from midnightsuns, and there are too many variables on what could have happened once that package hit the door.
If this is such a hassle, and you suspect the package was taken from your doorstep after delivery, that's what you have homeowners/renters insurance for. That type of insurance would have covered such an incident. #1 it was your property, that you paid for... #2 it was stolen from your premises. That, plus the $700 ups is willing to give you, may allow you to come out on top of this situation (even after deductible). I'm not an advocate of scamming insurance companies but c'mon, use your imagination.
