Decided to trade it in!
Good luck. I think your going to be very disappointed with the build quality of a TT or a Boxster.
C&D's long term test of the TT indicated build quality problems, and I know many people who say the Boxster has VERY poor build quality.
I think your trading off a relatively minor problem, for possibly larger mechanical and other assorted things.

I have the same gap as indicated in your pictures. The front end of my car was reapired froma very minor parking lot incident and figured that the body shop had taken off the hood to paint it. They said that they did not touch the hood and that they did not repaint the whole hood. I know this is a lttle off topic, but did you have front end work done or did just get a bad alighnment from the factory. The service manager where I had it fixed is not very interested in making it right.

Sorry for your troubles but I would think twice about the TT and the Boxster. The TT has reliability probems, mainly electrical, and the Porsche dealers are probably worse than Honda dealers. (Now that's something.) Just go read the threads on the Boxster board. If dlq4's approach fails, I would just get it fixed myself and chalk one up to experience.

It's a shame really. Honda will never become a premium brand (as Volkswagen has apparently done) until they learn how to provide (at least the appearance of) premium customer service. Good products are not enough. The relationship has to flourish for several years, especially when problems arise.
So far, I have yet to experience a serious problem with my local Honda dealership or AHM itself. But stories like this make me dread the day I do have a major problem with my S2000. Honda Customer Service needs to realize that we, S2000 owners, are not the average Joe Blow driving a little shitty Civic and stop treating us like Civic owners. Its ironic too that in all my paperwork ever received from AHM, it lists my car as a Civic Type-S. WTF is that?!?!
Of all the different cars I've owned, by far, BMW provides the absolute best ownership experience ever. On delivery, you get a box with many goodies inside including a customized Owner's Manual in a nice leather case, video tape, CDRom, free high quality key ring, a license plate frame, polo shirt, cap, etc. A few weeks later BMW USA sends you a Welcoming Kit. Their website provides an exclusive section for owners containing tons of info, customized options, delivery tracking, account access with BMW Financial Services, etc. Does Honda provide any of these things?????? Where's my S2000 CDRom? Where's my Welcoming Kit? Where's my owner's web access? They think I own a $35K Civic Type-S.
Mind you, I love my S2000 and I wouldn't trade it in because of Honda's bad customer service but nevertheless...
Wake up Honda!
PS - Dorian - If you do trade it in, stay away from the TT, MILES away from it. The car has many problems, surf the TT boards and you'll see. The Boxster (especially the S) is a great car, and IMO Porsche is a great company equal to BMW in its ownership experience.

Before you give up on the car and the loss you'll take on a trade, did you try another dealer? I had a similar compaint, my dealer's body shop manager showed up with a rachet wrench and fixed it in about 5 minutes. Maybe your's is more serious than mine was, but it looks very much the same in the pictures. My fender/hood actually squeaked at low speeds or when leaned on. In any case good luck with whatever you do and sorry to hear you have had such a "non-responsive" encounter with Honda.
FWIW, my experiences with Automaster in Shelburne, Vt. are the finest in 20 years of buying automobiles. They sell Porsche, Land Rover, M-Benz, Infiniti and of course Honda. They treat the prospective Civic buyer with the same courtesy and respect as a future M3 owner. My point?
Usually in these cases it's not the car but the dealership. I could easily see this situation being resolved if a few individuals were working elsewhere. Unfortunately they are not and you have to deal with those around, but buying another car is no guarantee that like-minded folks aren't working a few blocks down the road at another dealership. I'm convinced that a great car sells itself but unfortunately, too many dealerships assume their responsibility is completed when the delivery is made. Others know it is simply the beginning of the courtship.
