Definitive S2000 CR Thread

Well the only point I was trying to make is that several the of things that people are touting as "new and improved" on the CR were actually already present on the original S2000 (and on later AP1 models). The S2000 has been softened up quite a bit since the AP1 (mainly to make it appeal to a wider audience so as to help sales); so now these changes are somehow "all-new" selling points to some that don't really understand how hard-edged the original S2000 were.
I just read an article in road in track that the CR's improved coilovers don't have damping ajustment. Was supprised to hear since they could have encorperated this into the set up without much cost, and it just confirmed further for me that this car is too gimicky to be any more of a real track worthy car out of the box then the original Ap1. Obviously you can't have a do all suspension set up in a competative track worthy car. Each track requires ajustment if you want the max ability from the car.

It would be kinda ridiculous if Honda decides to jack up the spring rates by some 40% without doing anything to the dampers ...
The latest (November) edition of Sports Car magazine has a full-blown article on the S2000 CR. There's information in it that I haven't seen before, and is worth a look if your are interested in or just curious about the car.
Of note, it was stated in the article that of the 1,500 CR's imported into this country, 1,200 will have air condtioning and stereo. That doesn't leave many for really hard-core performance and competition freaks. But the ones without A/C and entertainment electronics may be hard to sell, and can be had for a significant discount. We'll just have to see . . . . . .

Hmmm ... not quite ... Both the damping and spring rates are increased on the CR:

I don't see any drawbacks to this feature other then the user may need to be educated from a CR manual in order to get some princables of what these settings do. Honda still could have incorporated a recommended setting somewhere in the middle that was easily selected for an average good handling set up if the user didn't want to fuss with it, which is what i'm sure they deemed the current set up without the adjustability. I'm thinking the people who would buy this car though would appreciate the ability of such a feature. Or maybe i'm the only one?
