Definitive S2000 CR Thread
Popeye - your points are well taken. But also note the way a Miata race car is built - cage, stripped out, etc, etc. That's been the argument of some, including me. It could have been a great car, but as it sits it is not something that should be raced. It needs a full complement of safety gear, to start... I don't think any of the negative comments were ever about the S2000, overall, just about a car badged as a racer that was not one. It's the badge that made no sense.
Anyway, good points.
Anyway, good points.
The Mazda MX-5 Cup car is $5,500 over the price of a standard MX-5.
For that you get:
AEM air intake
DC Sports exhaust header
Eibach coilovers and sway bars
Hawk racing pads
Hankook tires
Stripped interior
You have to add your own roll cage and safety equipment.

This particular dealer in LA had a "market adjustment" of 4K over sticker that was being asked...highly doubtful they'll get it as I expect you'll be able to buy these all day long at sticker and eventually for less. Sales guy was clueless about the car, he tried to lower the hard top like it was a folding job...

What dealer was that?

P.S. I agree about the wing. Looks like a freakin' 747, for God's sake.

note that I just picked up a new S2K for just about $28000.
I did a 4-state search in the Southeast and there's not much discounting going on as it's too early in the new model year. Plus, if they discount too much they won't be able to get rid of the '07s.
I was looking for a base model and got several quotes at MSRP and a few about $1000 below MSRP. I eventually ended up doing much better at my local dealer (Honda Carland in Atlanta) but still not as good as you'll get in 6 months when the "new" wears off.
While I was looking for my base model I also asked about the CR and was told they would have a "market adjustment" by several dealers, though I bet Carland will sell them at MSRP, maybe even a little below if you nag them, though they did not have any in stock yet.

Note stitching, something I didn't expect on the base model.

The $28k is for an '07. Honda has a $2k kickback for selling the old stock, without that this price would be way below cost for a dealer, even counting the holdback.

PS - car looks great. The wheels look nice!
