Default Detached Upper Steering Column Cover Help...

While cleaning the interior today, I noticed that the plastic upper steering column cover (right underneath the gauge/speed cluster) has become detached from the bottom steering column cover. I tried to reattach it without success. There appear to be a couple of teeth on both sides, but they are not locking in place, so it is just loose right now (sure to rattle). Has anyone else had/seen this problem?

First remove the long panel under the lower shell. There is a half turn little knob to undo, then the whole panel just pops off, downward. I find doing the side with the knob first to be easiest.

Next remove the three Philips head screws under the lower shell. Careful not to let it fail to the ground. Reengage the upper and lower shells. Replace screws. Replace long panel, turn knob.

When reengaging the shells, just press them together and kinda manipulate them to engage. With the screws removed it should be super easy.

I realized that the top portion has a broken "male" tab, which is causing them to come apart constantly. Will have to order a new top piece. It's only $15 or so. Thanks for the reply!
