Default Did I do something wrong?

Hi all,
I just performed my first oil change on the S. When I drained and refilled, I was careful not to drip any oil. Once I was done, I started the car and let it run. Smoke started to come out of the engine, and there was some sort of burnt smell. Now, I've had done numerous oil changes before, but not on the S. Did I just broke my baby?

Must have dripped a little somewhere. Exhaust manifold maybe?

I tried very hard to not drip any one the manifold. But I guess it happens.

I bought the car with 4K miles on it. And I think it did get an oil change b4 since the oil filter is aftermarket. It now had 5.5K. I used castro 10w30. Going to switch to Mobil 1 once I get to 10K miles.

So did it burn off yet or are you still having a problem?

It's most likely some oil you dripped on an engine part that is burning and causing smoke. How bad is the smoke, and can you isolate where it's coming from?

Did you change the oil filter without spilling anything?

Yea I would assume its the oil that sometimes runs down the side of the motor sometimes when you take the filter off.
