Default Diff exploded

On literally the last dyno run. I was having the 2step set and the guy was doing a 6000 rpm launch…boom. When I bought the car I was told it was a Puddymod rear, but I’m pretty sure it was stock.
I’ll be getting either a stage 2,3 or 4 from Ben (Puddymod) depending on what he says I should get.

380, but it was at clutch drop .
im not sure if the stage 2 will tolerate hard launches. It’s cryo’d and beefy, but the stage 4 is like 3x the strength of a stock diff. I’d love to not worry about abusing the car.

Have you thought about just using a Nissan diff?

Thanks for the replies.

I’ve reached out to Puddymod and asked if their diff Would hold up to an occasional drag race launch. I believe their stage 4 will, but I’m waiting to hear back.

I’ll give the Nissan swap another look now.

He’s booked through mid winter, yikes.
I’ll put a stock unit in so I can drive it around.
I like the 8.8, but big bucks to get the kit. Maybe I’ll learn to weld and buy a hacksaw, lol.

Found a cryo treated diff locally. I talked to the owner about the history of it. He swapped in an r200. Seems worth the gamble.

After doing a bit of research it seems our diff need the better sleeve gizmo inside and they sure could use a brace to keep the carriers from walking (pic below).

I wonder how stout they’d be with just the brace, as that piece can be added by just taking the ball half of the case cover off. I found one seller of this piece, but it’s $1100 and it’s literally just 4 bolts and a metal cage.
