I am trying to decide what year S is most desirable to buy. Does anyone know the differences in features from year to year? Anything REALLY significant?

 

The only significant change was in MY02 when they replaced the plastic rear window with a glass one with rear defroster, gave it a better stereo and two extra tweeters, tweeked the tranny a little, along with minor suspension change. Also, some minor tail light cosmetics. MY03 offers a tan interior in their white.

 

Do you know what they did to the tranny aad suspension?

 

Wasn't the leather on the center console added for 02 as well? I know 00 was just carpet, not sure about 01.

The glass window alone is a significant addition, should save some money down the road not having to replace the plastic eventually.

 

Supposedly, they made the already great tranny a little smoother. I think I read somewhere that the suspension is a little stiffer. I could be wrong on that though.

 

I know they changed the sway bars from MY00-01 to MY02. Exactly what or why I can't tell you.

the MY02 got the More power full stereo deck not the MY01. But other then that looks dead on.

 

Mid 2002-oil jet bolt update, along with many other tsb's. As time go's on tsb's go down. Been that way since the model t ford. I would buy the latest year(late 2002 or 2003)
