Default Different FD and Gearing..........

First off everyone welcome me because I am new to this board

secondly, I used to have a ITR with many mods (great car), that i recently traded in for my S2K. On my ITR, one of the best mods I ever did was changing the final drive , with a lightened flywheel.

My question is has anyone on this board done their FD or flywheel? if so, what is the FD you are using, along with gearing differences (if any) and what type of flywheel are you using?

Thanks in advance..........

Do a search for final drive. There were a variety of posts on the subject. There are 4 alternate ratios available for the S2000 and I actually calculated speed at redline and posted it here for reference.

The main problem is the electronic speedometer. It will read high and will speed up your odometer readings. We have a theoretical solution developed, but no one has ever taken the time to see if it actually works. Hopefully sooner rather than later. . .

Oh yeah, come out to the next Toronto meet!

search isn't quite functioning at the moment. the final drives are J's and can be swapped out but the speedo, like Rob mentioned, well that's the issue.

flywheels, toda or spoon. go through mingster/import development for spoon/J's stuff.

Funny, I always thought price was the issue. Make sure you're sitting down before you look up those prices, especially if you've ever done a gearing change on, say, a Mustang.

yup. I did gears on a mustang - actually that was the only mod I had a shop do. I dont trust myself to shim gears and set backlash correctly. gears for a mustang installed were around 300 or 350 - parts, steering gear and all. but for this car, quite expensive. the gears alone will set you back around $1K if I remember correctly.
