rw, did you try to contact Michelle (info posted earlier)? She's the one I dealt with at Honda.

There was never any problem for me contacting Honda during my 6 months of ongoing discussion with them on this subject. Sorry to hear you're getting blown off.

I've called her several times. All I get is voice mail and no call backs.

Hmm...

Well, do try the central number and see if they'll set you up with a "case."

WOOT!

Good news! I got a case number and the switch is available. I gotta fax in the paperwork tomorrow.

The rep initially told me they never offered a kit, and when I balked at that, they said the list of approved vehicles had changed. Double checking determined that the 2000-2003 model years are still eligible for airbag switches. 2004 and more recent models simply are listed as "no part available at this time".

Hope that helps out someone.

More reason not to have to live with an 8K redline.

Good job, rw. Maybe Michelle doesn't work there anymore. Who knows.

Be prepared, now, for a LONG time before this actually gets done. AHM will have to locate a stealership that will do the work for you. Hopefully you'll have better luck over there in Honda-land than I did here.

I got a call from Honda today, they are sending me the liability waiver and the cute video.

My local dealer refused, but they said it's not too much of a problem now that they have a list of dealers that are willing to do the work. I'll be getting more info shortly.

I was quoted $199 for the parts and approx. 3 hours of labor.

Wow, got the video a couple of days ago. I never new Pam Dawber (from Mork and Mindy) was working now making Honda training videos. She got old (but still good-looking) the last I saw her she was on M&M.

It turns out Honda is actually chasing me around calling me making sure I got everything and if everything's OK. It's really unsettling to see that (both Pam and Honda's customer service). The paperwork's signed and off in the mail.

BTW: Honda never said anything about buying back the part when I have it removed from the vehicle.
