oh yeah... i get that too.

except i'm wading through a sea of chop with a mix of Suburbans, Expeditions, and other massively oversized SUV's (only to see one kid get out... ) and a few family sized sedans.

surprisingly enough, very few minivans... though, i'm about to join that crew all too soon... (S isn't going anywhere, rest assured.)

Having installed Major Havoc's headrest windblocker a couple years back, I think you should be able to remove the headrest/helmet-hole mesh assembly and run the tether directly through it and then anchor it at the base of the seatback?
That's what I am planning, but tightening the strap is going to be a pain. I gotta look at the Helm's manual for a decent attachment point.

I have a Britax Roundabout in my passenger seat right now, and I attach the tether to the roll-bar. There is a strap that wraps around the roll-bar and passes throug itself, and the tether attaches to the metal bracket on the end.

I've also been looking at the recaro as my daughter gets bigger. Glad to see it fits!

Well, about a week ago I got the waiver from the NHTSA, so I'll be off to calling Honda in a bit. Any contact info or numbers anyone can PM to help me out?

You bet, rw. MIght as well post it here.

The AHM rep I dealt with, who I'm sure will remember me , was Michelle Schwabe . Michelle is in Torrance, and her phone there is (800)999-1009x118163.

This part may be of no use to you, but the installation was done at
Middletown Honda, in New York. The parts manager was really helpful (Brian Keller)... Sorry, I don't have the right phone number for him here at work, but you can look up middletown on the web.

Be aware that it took months for Michelle to hook me up with a dealership to actually do the work out here in New England. Hopefully you'll have better luck.

If you get nowhere, try contacting woodwork -- he's a board member.

Well, I live a mere 30-40 minutes from Torrance here in SoCal, I hope things will be easier here - There are literally tons of dealers around.

The job cost around $450-500 for the parts, installation, and "pre-unistall" fees, right?

Well, having the Honda dealerships around is meaningless unless they're willing to do the airbag work, rw. But, maybe AHM will have more "weight" near Torrance than out here.

Not sure what you mean about the pre-uninstall fees, rj? There weren't any charges except the day at the dealership when the work was done. Yeah, expect it to be around $500.

Somehow I remember a post that stated it was about $500. That included parts, all labor, and a prepayment for uninstalling the switch. The uninstalling is required before selling the car via some sort of written agreement, IIRC.

rw, I don't recall any pre-payment for uninstalling the switch. It's true that you're required by the NHTSA to remove the switch when you sell the vehicle (at your own cost)...

Good luck.

This thread is pretty long now - but somewhere in here I did document what the Honda letter said. It did say something about Honda refunding the fee of the switch and paying the de-installation labor charge when it came time to remove it.
