DO NOT Buy JIC Magic Products
It was on the rear shock on the Nissan 240sx. It's the adjustment screw on top. It's a hex nut with a twistable grip cylinder on top. There are metal balls in between that let you know when you've adjusted it. The grip top slides over the balls and makes a clicking sound.
I was at a auto-x event and I needed to adjust my shocks. I started adjusting it, but the screw itself came off. So I took some needle-nose pliers and tried to screw it by the hex piece back on. The piece shouldn't have unscrewed in the first place, but it did. When I was screwing it back on, the pliers grabbed onto the adjuster piece and it ended up turning it even though it couldn't move and one of the balls popped out. This part was totally my fault as I was in a rush and I didnt pay enough attention to see exactly what I was grabbing onto. The whole adjuster piece should still not have unscrewed by me trying to change the settings, it was definately not torqued right from factory.
Then I had called up JIC for a replacement piece...which they should have available since it screws in and out anyways. No avail. They wanted me to send my shock in and they might not be able to fix it they tell me. Even though the adjuster comes off completely and can be put back on so easily.
Just trying to get me to buy a new shock from them.

More details please! Exactly what nut is it? Who did your install? What torque specs did you use? Was the kit new? Did you buy it from JIC? or from a dealer?
Sometimes shops don't like dealing with this stuff because there are alot of people that screw up the install and then try to return "defective" parts that they messed up. Not saying this is you, but some more details would sure clear it up.

It was the locknut that was suppose to keep the threaded strut body tight in the lower bracket. It is the nut you use to adjust the ride height, not the spring preload/perch. I did the install with a friend of mine in his shop using a lift and all the proper tools. We are both more than qualified to do the install correctly. As far as torque goes, there is no way to measure it with those spanner wrenches, but I got it as tight as I could and ended up stripping the right side after the fourth or fifth time re-tightening it.
The Kit was brand new. I ordered it through KS Motorsports, now called Wired Speedlab and it was shipped directly to me from JIC USA. I have contacted Kyle from Wired Speedlab and he does not seem very interested in getting involved either. I get the feeling both the dealer and distributor are hopping I will say "Ah shucks, there goes $1700" and go away. FAT CHANCE, this is the communication era, you can't screw people and get away with it.
Thank you all for reading this and considering other products than JIC.

well maybe JIC USA sucks but i got my jic full titanium exhaust straight from japan. ive never had a problem with the exhaust or anything. sorry to hear that though. Jic is a great company though, just bad customer service.
I want to add that the product it self works great. Good quality stuff.
Its just the help I needed was not provided to help me understand the situation.
My impression was Ben knew less than I did.
