They both seemed like stand up guys and can't imagine they'd still be in business if they were in the business of screwing people.
In person and even on the phone (BEFORE the sale), I would agree with you, but in this lengthy thread, we now have 3 customers (myself being one) where the "after cinching the sale" ethics was "less than stellar". I was NOT screwed, but I felt I was deceived.

Lack of organization and communication possibly.

Too many people involved in a simple process.

Definitely not disagreeing with you guys, I think they screwed up and should fix it ASAP, I've been there.

From what I read though, it sounds like Carlos jumped in near the end and may not have understood what terms An(drew) had already laid out, so I thought if he actually called back until he got An(drew) on the phone he might have better luck.

It all comes down to that Tech2 is not getting the full $455 back from UPS, so they want me to eat up 20%...now someone tell me why I'm liable for that 20%...
If UPS will pay the wholesale cost of the part, ie Andrew's cost, how is he out money?

I would assume that UPS is not attempting to charge Andrew for shipping, as they are obviously liable for the damage.

Sounds like Andrew is trying to work the system and make profit without a sale. Hope you got your money back.

I wouldn't say that Andrew in particular is trying to work the system, the mistake was really on the part of Carlos. Whether he was trying to "work the system" or was just in the dark about blackfx and Drew's earlier conversations is a mystery that will probably never be answered.

Also if you read the earlier posts, UPS is trying to charge him for shipping because they claim that the part was damaged during installation. Basically you have to check the package out before signing it off to be able to prove it was UPS's fault.

ahhh..."re-stocking" fees. Such bs. One way to tell the difference between reputable and established business's from the internet dropship crap. I'd say stop wasting your time and just contact your credit card company and start the process on a chargeback (or just mention that word, and retailers usually will fall in line and play nice, most hate chargebacks).

I don't have a problem with restocking fees as long as they only apply to "I changed my mind" type refunds. But definitely not to damaged in transit returns. No freaking way.

its such a bad situation when one company will not give a customer the refund they are entitled to. It is not a significant amount for a company who has been in business for a bit. They will not be losing a cent because ups is refunding the amount tech2 payed for the product. But in the long run they will lose hundreds, if not thousands of dollars over a trivial matter.

Here is my take on this...and it works, so just do it.

Just dispute it with the CC company. They cannot say anything or do anything to get your money. I've done this dozens of times with crappy online stores, and sometimes, even got to keep the item. I hate online stores that screw you, so stick it where it hurts.

On a side note, I hate these retard "I can run my own business" morons who cant see past one order. Sure, you might get 80 bucks from a customer on your bullsh!t restocking free, but you definitely lost a lot of my money. I wouldn't ever buy anything from them after this. We have been having too many bad sponsors on s2ki lately.

And to all of you thickskulled people bashing on the original poster.....

Can you Einsteins not see with your 0 business knowledge that this is NOT a restocking fee? Do you know what a restocking fee is?

Restocking fee IS THE REPACKAGING OF AN ITEM THAT HAS BEEN ALTERED FROM ITS RETAIL STATE. (rewrapping electronic items in vacuum film, sealed boxes, stereos with missing wires that need to be replaced, etc.)

YOU CANNOT RESTOCK A RADIATOR. It is a PIECE OF METAL IN A BOX, SOMETIMES IN A PLASTIC BAG,. There is NOTHING TO RESTOCK. Putting it back on the shelf IS NOT RESTOCKING.

Next, its PRETTY CLEAR that UPS is paying TECH2 THE WHOLESALE VALUE of the item....basically, what they paid for it. THEY WANT TO PASS THIS EXPENSE TO OUR ORIGINAL POSTER.

He got screwed. He wasnt lied to. He was scammed. Id be a lot more pissed than he is. Not only that, posting his problem on a board which is supposed to help out, and instead, getting a bunch of a$$hats telling him he is wrong.

Tech2 wants the customer to eat their losses, and their friends agree with it. This is straight up fraud.

P.S. Before the restock police start saying their uncle's brother's dog's wife owns a shop and they do restock radiators....

NO major auto parts store including Autozone, R&S, SK Speed, Parts Authority, Edelbrock, Pep Boys, etc charge restocking fees on radiators, exhausts, headers, etc.
