Do you feel confident behind the wheel
Whenever uninformed people talk about the s2000, usually the first thing they will mention is the 'snap oversteer' and talk about how it is such an unpredictable car. I was wondering how you owners feel about this statement. To be honest, I felt safer and more confident in my S than in any other car I have driven. My very unscientific way of judging how much confidence a car inspires is to see how fast I can get it up to on my driveway. I was able to hit 90mph in my s2000 before the final curve and the closest I have come to that was about 84 in the AMG, which says a lot, considering how much faster the mercedes was. It might have something to do with how much time I spent in my s2000, but I just have a tremendous amount of trust and respect for the car.
I used to drive a 94 Trans Am that was an auto. Talk about having the back end get away from you! That car was a handful when you're on the throttle and in a curve. It definitely had some nasty "snap oversteer" (and a bad driver at the time
)
When I drive the S, it feels more controllable and its easier modulating the gas pedal. I havent had a snap oversteer incident in the S, but I can still induce oversteer if I wanted to. It probably helps that I dont try to find the limits on the streets either.

I feel VERY confident behind the wheel of my S. I LOVE the way it feels and responds. It's VERY planted to the ground... Before getting it I was told by people that its twitchy bla bla bla and i was kind of paranoid, but now I'm like wtfff its amazing...
but then again, I haven't really lost it in a turn yet, lol. I'm sure the first time that happens it'll knock my confidence level back a couple of pegs... Honestly though, I kick the tail out for fun every now and then, and I still don't think its bad at ALL... And now that I just got some new wheels with wider tires, it grips even better.
I just want to take it out to a track or something and just lose it a couple of times to see how I'd do. I think after doing that I'll be 100% confident behind the wheel in ANY situation, unlike now where I feel 80-90% confident or something...

Yea I really want to start participating in autox's and take some performance driving courses. I truly feel that the S is a car that was never meant for public roads, and therefore you will never be able to completely learn to handle the car unless you take it to where the car was meant to be...a race track...
