I never felt it, but thats because I am tuned. The "kick" can also be felt differently, depending on speed and where in the powerband you are accelerating from. Also how much throttle you are using. Ap1s will feel the kick, while ap2s will feel it less.

It's a 6,000 rpms exactly and it is not throttle dependent.

OK, loads of different opinions on this. According to people here (https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/860...ec-switchover/) it is throttle dependent.

I've had VTEC kick in @ half-throttle...but I stand corrected, it is dependent on throttle and a slue of other variables: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VTEC

..I always just thought if the engine had enough oil pressure you'd go into VTEC @ a given RPM.

Doesn't happen often but I always "feel" the Vtec kicking in @6k.
I've never crossed 6k without feeling it.

VTEC can engage anywhere from 5800-6200 rpm depending on throttle, oil pressure, and engine temp, and its the ECU that decides when it should switch. Disengagement is set below 5800 rpm and has its own range for disengage.

You will only feel the transition when you are being aggressive, and I'm pretty sure the engine will always transition at the upper rpm even at partial throttle.

Also, since the F22c has 30-40 more hp below 6k rpm, there's less of a power difference, so less "kick" at the transition.

i was under the assumption that our motors had vtec and intake "butterflies" that resemble the B-series honda motors. if that's the case, then you wouldn't hear nor feel vtec, but what you do hear and feel (stock motor ie: no exhaust, intake, etc) would be the butterflies opening up. also "vtec" shouldn't have a noticeable "kick" when it engages, that would be abnormal because vtec is supposed to be a smooth transition. if you had exhaust you could hear the vtec through the rear and then the butterflies opening up, which in return increases intake noise up front. please correct me as needed.
