I'm with BLACK8. Pump & plug kit. If a tire gets cut then I'll call for a flatbed wrecker.

This comes up often in the Electronics forum.

Here is the part people miss. They want to put a sub in the toolwell, but then don't want to get rid of the spare to put their amplifier there.

You need the toolwell to carry the flat, so if you use the toolwell, the value of the spare is compromised.

I took out my spare, and put my amplifier there. I still have the entire toowell open as I am not running my sub in the well. I carry a cell phone when I am driving around town, and on long trips I carry Fix-a-flat and a portable compressor.

BTW -- 2001-2004 Corvette Z06's do not come with a spare and unlike the other C5 Corvettes were NOT equipped with run-flat tires. GM supplies a bottle of tire sealant and a portable air compressor. That's FACTORY equipment.

I have no worries about running without a spare.

Fix-a-flat isn't the solution, though.

For these high-performance tires, it's actually dangerous, because it dissolves some of the inside of the tire to create the goop needed to plug the hole, thereby compromising the tire's integrity. Further, when you do have it taken off to be patched, the patching process is compromised.

So if you use Fix-a-Flat as an emergency "spare', be prepared to buy a new tire; and, unless you get a flat in a new tire, be prepared to get two so the handling (on one worn / one new tire) isn't screwed up. HPH

Did he have long, hairy arms and knuckles that dragged on the ground when he walked?

ps. Please take your CAPS LOCK OFF.

I was going to remove the spare, but thought with the weight loss of my single Spoon exhaust, more weight reduction purely from the rear would more so compromise the perfect balance of the car rather than be benifital.
