Honda recommends 10W-30 for temperature ranges down to about minus 1 or minus 2 deg F and 5W-40 for S2000s that are driven in colder conditions. The oil must be have "API Certification" saying "for gasoline engines." That means it has the "starburst" seal.

It is in the Helm Manual, 2001 edition, page 3-2.

With my Neuspeed exhaust, I definately noticed a lack of the VTEC surge. Kind of miss the surge, but the trade off in sound and low end performance is worth it.

Soon, I'll be installing a new exhaust system, so we'll see what happens with the new one....

That is really weird, when I put in my injen "the hot air intake", I noticed a bigger vtec surge. Likewise a friend of mine who has a prelude would also get a bigger surge with the mods he did i/h/e, cams, nos.

Come on Rich the mods aren't that good! Pull the old dipstick and feed her a quart.

I now have 3250 miles on my car. I have the header and exhaust installed as well as the intake. My VTEC surge is gone w/ only a slight audiable difference starting around 6200 rpm. The car is stronger all the way through1000 rpm-9000rpm; but, I do miss the kick I had when I first got the car. One thing is nice and that's hot-dogging it thru a corner and hit vtec without the rears breaking lose.

I was thinkin that I read a post here recently regarding the oil consumption during break-in, and Honda had recently changed to recommending only 10-30 in that new memo...??

I have the JR filter, the Neuspeed exhaust and am currently running with 5W30 Mobil 1, about 1/3 down on the dipstick. I VTEC almost every day. The "kick" has never gone away and as far as I can tell, it still feels the same.
