Read this update from last October on when to change oil, what grade of oil(10W-30), when to use synthetics, about the break in period and oil consumption.

My car has right around 7,800 miles now. My VTEC seems to have smoothed out. The transition is not as violent as was with fewer miles. The sound and push back into the seat is still there, it's just smoother now. That makes me feel better when accelerating during a turn, the car is more stable now. Whereas before the back-end felt as though it was going slide out from underneath me when hitting VTEC. My car is still 100% stock.

I've stopped noticing the VTEC kick all together, and my S2000 is 100% stock, engine-wise. Not sure if it's because I've gotten used to it or it's smoothed out. But, my other drivers have said my car is a bit faster than theirs (S2K's) on the track, and I can usually get 2-4MPH faster down the straightaways.

Maybe I need to drive WOT more often to keep the VTEC engagement happy

Is it getting real hot in CT? If not, it won't hurt anything unless you are tracking the car somewhere. If you're just using the car as a daily driver in less than "hot" weather, 5W30 is fine. If you're going to change you should change to what is recommended - 10W30. I only put 5W30 in my car because the temps here get down to as low as -30*C. I've run with 10W30 at these temps the first year I had the car and it was OK but it seems "happier" with the 5W. I certainly wouldn't track the car with it though.

while on the subject, does the VAFC affect the vtec at all, how about the injen cai because im really considering those mods. along with a 50 dry shot, but we all know nos gives a nice little kick in the ass

i love vtec i would hate to see it go. i guess i would just have to get the turbo to satisfy my needs

With the turbo you can't even feel VTEC at all.. in fact most of my driving is below VTEC land simply because it's so powerful in the low end. The real kick in the pants in 3500 where you are smashed against the back of the seat.

I have a V-AFC, I actually set my VTEC LO>HI at 5900 to 6000 on the streets sometimes just so I can feel the VTEC kick. It's most efficient at 5600 rpms but not as much fun.

hey chris, you say theres soo much low end power with the turbo, how is the high end? does the turbos power increase as all the way up to 9k or does it start dropping before then? and one last thing, is it harder to control (is handling givin up at the purchase of the turbo) the car sense it has soo much power. i want power, i love power, but i also love a great handling car

More power isnt going to disrupt the handling of the car unless the power comes on too abruptly.. I imagine that there is some level of learning curve when learning how to handle the turbo.. however since the turbo only boosts to 6psi on pump gas the boost lag is very very small and power is available almost immediatly. You have to learn how to handle the car through the turns, how to be smooth with breaking and acceleration, etc. If you don't screw around then you aren't going to have any problems.

I consider myself pretty conservative really, when I am driving on the street and taking a sharp turn I try and be very neutral on the acceleration. I power out of curves and downshift before the curve etc.. I have never had a problem with handling the car with the turbo.

I also have Pirelli PZero's with 10.5 inch tires in the rear.

The power of the turbo increases perfectly through out the power range. My car has almost a perfect angle of curve all the way to redline because it has had about a week straight of dyno tuning with a fuel control product called the Unichip. The original dyno sheet that I got from Speedcraft using the VAFC for fuel control had a spike at 8700-9000rpm of about 10hp or so. The turbo loves high revs!

Just for everyone's info, we found that the best results for VTEC engagment was at 6300 RPM -- with the turbo.
