Do you plan on keeping your S2000 forever?
I grew up during my highschool years on Okinawa.. I wanted an S600 or an S800 back then.. did not own one... friends did.. I did get to drive a few... and all the years before this S.. I had some nice cars.... then one day... this S came into my world.. it is a pleasure to drive.. it's going to take one heck of a reason for me to part with this car... I waited some 40 plus years to own it...
Sold my Sebring ap1 about three years ago. Now I'm back in a ssm ap2 and loving every second. I put 1000 miles on this thing in two weeks, have gone for a cruise everyday on my 30 minute lunch break. Hope to never sell this beaut.
Mine's an '01 AP1 which I bought new about 12 years ago. It's been garaged when not in use. I've kept the plastic rear window treated and clear. About 34K on the odo, as we have three other vehicles. It looks and runs nearly new. The way things are right now, I may end up keeping it forever. None of our other vehicles are the same type as the S2K. Moreover, I've been unable to find any new model car that is of the same type as the S2K -- at any price. After all, test drives in new, high-dollar sports cars are free! And I've test driven a bunch. Nothing I've found is a true light weight sports car with sufficient power, AND nimble handling and shifting like the S2K. I guess they don't make cars of its type anymore.
I have had 19 cars in my 57 years. Most were good deal replacements for utilitarian vehicles. As my family, friends, and in laws acquired new cars I took advantage of the transaction. Some cars I kept for a long time. My first, a 64 Dodge Coronet 440 was sold when I hit 265,000 miles and I was a new Ensign in flight training and had to have the new 1979 RX7. One car I am still using my 94 T Bird V8 with 130,000. Its my airport car. Runs great. I get 28mpg with that 4.7literV8 on the highway! Will keep that till I retire. (Maybe)
My 09 Yellow S with 38,000 now is a perfect fun driving car. No fuss, good looking, fun as hell, simple, solid quality. Its really a classic. It has to be one of my favorites of all time. Voted forever as long as forever is. If it gets creamed, well its time for something else. Just like owning boats or airplanes, you will always see something newer, bigger, flashier, faster. Its like the girl you take to a dance. Stick with her and you will be happier in the long run if you would just be content. I am more than content with this S. Now, as my early retirement car, its been a great excuse for my bride and I to hit the 2 lane twisty turny roads that northern California has in abundance. No rust, no winter storage out here. Just drive for the fun of it. This place was made for this car. Better drive it as much as I can till they take my drivers license away and I have to start using a horse again.

In my younger days, I had a '69 Lotus Europa – great fun (for its day) and I didn't see them every day. In fact, I almost never saw them. That is essentially the same with the CR. I see another S2000 once in a while, but I never see another CR. I've actually seen three in the wild, but I was out of town for each sighting.
In those younger days, I had friends with some other interesting cars: 1969 MG MGB, 1968 Fiat Spider, 1970 Triumph TR6, 1966 Jaguar XKE, etc. I was in love with Maxwell Smart's Sunbeam. They were timeless classics which still look beautiful to me. At least, photos of them do as spotting them in the wild is an incredibly rare pleasure.
The S2000 is special in the same way as all of the cars I mentioned previously (and others I didn't). To my eyes, it's almost as beautiful as a 1962 Ferrari 250 – well, almost, almost. Couple the beauty of its form to its marvelous mechanicals and what more could one want? To those who want more, more can be added – the range of mods for this car is staggering.
There can be no doubt that there is a certain passion surrounding the S2000. That's the attitude that portends a future classic. It wasn't built in great numbers and the count can only continue to decrease. It was masterfully built by Honda, so it will survive well into the future. It's, without doubt, a classic. It's also an absolute blast to drive.
This is an interesting thread, but it is in a forum occupied by the more passionate owners, so it should come as little surprise that the overwhelming majority of us has voted in favor of keeping it forever. I hope most of us actually do hang on to our S2Ks 'forever', but mine is going to have to survive the deliverance of many miles of smiles!

. Adding a supercharger later with a few other mods.
