Wow, there really are a lot of rumours here.

No, the CR is not geared any differently from a base model. The CR does have stiffer springs/shocks, bigger sway bars, an aero kit, rear chassis brace, quicker steering ratio, no soft top, different interior, and different muffler. The transmission and engine are the same as those of base model.

These two pages should answer your questions:

Please don't start rumours like "The CR has a V6 engine in there ..."
My bad. I think I read hear that gearing was different.

if you look at a stock S exhaust muffler you will see tubes on the back of them.

where in the world did you get " AP1 from factory - 2808 lbs? "

i myself went to a scale and my car weighed 2740 with 17" work emotions.
my friend who also went with his bone stock 07 it weighed 2800 exactly.
stop being in denial, 00 - 01`s also have less speakers & plastic window compared to 02-03 models.

not to mention ; comparing the 07 with MY01.. the seats do look heavier(imo) , the 07 has 6 speakers total, traction control, 17"wheels with bigger offsets, glass window...

the traction control is electronic through the dbw and abs system. so if anything it saves weight.

The 06+ s2000 do not have an airpump, or cruise control modle either which means lighter weight. They do however also have a better airbag system and more airbag sensors including some built into the seats. Which means more weight.

All in all it balances out. The CR is indeed lighter than ap1. It also have MUCH better tires and wheels than ap1 which add weight. Overall i am sure the CR is a very well balanced package. It also have a stiffer chasis thanks to improved chasis bracing in the soft top area. The CR also does not have any sound deadning material saving more weight.

I am sure the seats are indeed heavier. But in all honesty if you turn the CR into a track car and remove the airbags you can drop ALOT of weight and ditch the heavy oem seats (which are no doubt significantly heavier than ap1 seats)

In all honestly most of the weight for the 06+ s2000 is probably in the seats and airbag sensor systems. an ap1 vs a dbw ap2 both with racing seats and no airbags, and the same wheels. i wouldnt doubt that the dbw ap2 would be lighter

how much gas did you have in the car?

If the weight of your MY01 is less than the stated honda amount by XX lbs how can you not be sure that the CR is also lighter than the stated amount by the same XX lbs?

i weighed by 04 and it was 35lbs lighter than the oem honda spec weight and weighed in a clean 2800lbs. If the oem spec is off by 35lbs as i found with my car, and it holds true for the CR also then it is STILL lighter than your car.
