Default does this oil light ever come on?

I've owned this car for about 3yrs and have never seen the oil light blink or come on. Not that that's a bad thing, but mine loves it's oil, and drinks quite heavily sometimes, and I would think at 1.5qts to 2 qts low, that light should flicker... Anyone ever seen it come on? (shy of a freeze up?)

The oil light,is not a low level, but a low pressure indicator.
It won't come on a preset low level, but on low press.

invest in some krankvents too.

i burn no oil. i used to burn about 1qt every 3000 miles. many others used to burn a lot of oil also and krank vents reduced/eliminated it.

If you wait till the light flickers, you're already damaging your motor. The light comes on at some ridiculusly low pressure.

Using the oil light to tell you something is wrong is truely UNwise. You can have as little as 2 qts. remaining in the crankcase and that light will NOT come on.

Your oil (pressure) light is on before starting your car.
(ignition on ect..., ready to push-to-start)
I hope that you have seen it.
