At the end of the day I suspect all of us owners think it is a good looking car (maybe even great) and we just love driving it and so what others think may not matter. We're happy.

 

I was pulling up at a drive thru for some burgers, the guy handed that handed me the burger said, i should buy the store since i could afford this car. he said i was loaded

 

While working at a car wash today with our football team, one of my players asked me if my S (which was there to draw in others cars) was expensive or just looked expensive. I thought of this thread before I responded.

 

How did you respond?

 

i have people coming up to me asking how much it cost a lot at the gas stations

 

Not expensive. I also tell them when they ask if it is fast that "it's just a little four cylinder."

I didn't think the s2k looked more expensive than it is until an event that happened yesterday. You see, my wife is running for the Oklahoma House of Representatives from our district. Our district consists of rural areas, small towns, and some isolated housing additions just to the west and northwest of Oklahoma City. When she visits the small towns to campaign, she drives one of our cars with magnetic campaign signs on both front doors. I called a volunteer "political advisor" from one of the small towns yesterday to see if he had any information on how she was doing in that town. He said she was generally doing fine. But he'd had some complaints that she looked too "uppety" when she drove "that little red sports car" (the s2k) --- but was just fine when she drove the maroon sedan. Now the maroon sedan is an '04 Mercedes Benz C 320 that cost almost $10K more than the s2k! So in the future, when my wife campaigns in that town, she will drive the Mercedes instead onf the s2k, to avoid "looking uppety." So the s2k MUST look like it costs more than it does-- at least to some.

yup. since im 19 a lot of people are surpised when i drive the s2k untill the find out how much it really cost. people think its like a 50k car

 

It definately looks more expensive and sexier when it has the oem lip, spoiler and side strakes like mine

when I tell people it's a 33k car, they're shocked, they all think 50's mainly because the convertible factor and the flashy red/black interior.
strangers always say, nice beemer!

Now the AP2 with all the oem goodies definately looks like a 50-60k car in the right color.
