It looks better from 10 feet away. When you get into and underneath the car you quickly realize how they manage to build it for that price. The drivetrain may be pretty close to bullet proof, but the chassis and bodywork are all pretty delicate and obviously built to a price point. Particularly, the bumpers, front and rear plastic and most of the undercarriage in the rear. The paint is pitifully thin and soft and the dash is also obviously built at a price point. Don't get me wrong, I love my S....but once you start looking at it with the proverbial "jaundiced eye" you can really start to see how they put em' out for that kind of $$$. It really is all about the suspension and drive train.

Odd how we can differ in opinion. One reason I didn't buy the Mercedes Benz SLK 55 AMG I test drove a few days ago (as a possible replacement for my s2k) was that the interior was too "sedan-like" -- meaning that it was too full of trim and other stuff. Beautiful, if one were looking for a lux sedan but just a bit too much for a true sports car IMO. In contrast, the s2k interior looks "purpose built" for a sports car. Surfaces don't look "rich" enough? Apply a little 303.

Thanks,
Richard

I get the feeling it looks cheaper then it is.
Because it badged a Honda and I don't think the public expects Honda's to be +30k. At least not the average person - none of us are average.

The H badge really messes with the general car "ignorant" person. They have a hard time with it.
Its definately an attention grabber. I love the snobbish looks I get from BMW roadster owners Its funny 'cause you always catch them looking.

From the outside yea maybe. But as soon as you sit inside you know you are in a cheap car. Plastic everywhere no real aluminum trim, just more plastic painted pieces. Everything scratches so easily etc.
The glovebox must be straight out of a Neon its so flimsy.

They should have given it a leather wrapped dash and real aluminum trim. that would have created a more upscale look. I would have gladly paid 1k more for a better interior.

Lets not even talk about the "stereo".

The car is more expensive than the sticker price, according to some reports. There was a story years ago that Honda actually built the car for more money than it sold it for.
Thats urban legend. The former Honda Boss in an interview said they make profits on everything they build even highly specialized cars with low production numbers.
