Default Does VTEC scare other drivers?

Does anyone get startled looks when they finally get a chance to pass a slowpoke and the engine just howls?
I swear some older folks look downright frightened when they hear 8000-9000 rpm.

I try not to tailgate people, as I hate it when other do that to me, but sometimes when you have two slow cars in front of you clogging up both lanes, I will drop it down to the edge of VTEC and when there is an opening let it rip to get by. If you are rolling at a constant 6500 rpm waiting to goose it, people look at you like you are crazy.

I realize to some it sounds as if the engine is going to explode, and we are used to the fact that it has a way to go before redline, but I don't think it should frighten people.

The only time I have heard the VTEC scream is from inside the car, perhaps it is more menacing outside the car? BTW....it is stock. I passed one old guy putt-putting along in a big old Buick and I swear the guy was gonna have a stroke. Is it that loud outside the car? I think it sounds cool with the top down and not THAT loud.

I can't say I've noticed it scaring people, but it does get their attention.

With the intake they always give a second glance. With a header and exhaust they will never look away.

I think I've scared before!

On one of my rides I was running through Gunpowder State Park (great echos there) & I had just VTEC'd it when I noticed the fishermen standing next to the creek.

They didn't look too happy to hear me but most of the fish were.
