Does VTEC scare other drivers?

In normal driving around town and the like, I don't feel the need to VTEC, though. Hitting VTEC means going way too fast over the speed limit, and I definitely do not need any tickets!
We have this tunnel underpass that goes under some train tracks, right before you enter the downtown area which is filled with danceclubs and bars. There are always tons of people standing outside just hanging out. The other night I went through the tunnel in 1st and 2nd through VTEC... I swear everyone nearby stopped what they were doing and just stared as I drove by, it was pretty damn funny to see their reactions.
Passed a SUV once before at about redline and apparently he had his window down. After the pass we both get stuck at a light side by side and he waves my window down with a serious look. I thought he was going to ask for directions until I heard him say (now this is a pretty big man with a mustache and in his 40s) : "You scared me. I almost had a heart attack". At first I thought he was kidding and I actually laughed a little until I saw just how serious he was. I kind of apologized, I don't know why, and we went on our way. Weird experience.

Granted, it's not the fastest car on the market, but it definitely has some pick-up and go.
You're just kidding around, right?
