What should I tell her? Im saving for a Hardtop! Any good exuses? Heh...Sorry a Yorkey is going to have to be put on hold. Plus she hasn't been the best co-pilot lately...!
She is just a girlfriend... Not a wife... How about fianc
I adopted a stray Chihuahua for my gf this weekend from a "Adopt a friend" animal fair and she hasn't left our side since.
We were considering getting a $2000 English Bulldog puppy but the things I heard about some breeders were disturbing.
Like many above have said, there are thousands of available pets who need homes and are as good if not better than what you can pay rediculous amounts of money for. Take a look on www.petfinder.com or go to one of these "adoption fairs".
I never thought I would end up with a Chihuahua but when you see the dogs in person you'll find one you like.
If your gf NEEDS a YORKIE, you should drop her because her selfishness and lack of compassion for ALL pets will carry over to other parts of life.
Dukeboy is right! Rescue a Dog or Pup, I bought 2 jack Russells from different breeders at different times for around $500.00 a piece, I lost the first one when me and my GF broke up because I bought the first one for her I miss that Dog! Then I found Jake on Doggie death row, If I remember correctly - He cost me $45.00 .
I saved him and he is an awesome dog.
Girlfriends come and go but Hardtops last Forever
That much $ for a dog is not worth it, unless you are planning on breeding it. That is why they are so expensive. If you are planning on neutering / spading it, I would look for a Yorkie, but one without papers. That is why it is so expensive, it probably has a good bloodline.
Personally, the only reason why I would buy a pure-bred is if it is useful (Labradores and retrieving....etc). I would get her one without papers, but looks like a yorkie. Should be able to find one for at LEAST half that price. She will not know the difference.
YId tell her Ill get the dog for you if you give me the money. Unless you 2 have been going out for a LONG time I wouldnt give the thought the time of day. Do you think she'd go out and dump $900 on you.... relationships are a 2 way street and settle for nothing less than that unless you want to get taken advantage of. Now saving a puppy is a good thing and if she isnt selfish and all that she should be up for that... take her by the pound one day and show her what kind of great animals that need homes or die there are and I bet shell want everyone of them. As some others have said unless $900 is pocket change dont do it... save a puppy instead.
Any women that would ask me for something she would not buy herself will soon be replaced. Looks like you already have a bitch why do you need to buy another?
tell her you'll buy the dog, if she buys you the hardtop...No seriously, think of the maintenance on the pup...it already sounds like your girl is high maintenance as it is...good luck.
What about a compromise? The both of you can visit the local animal shelters and see what dogs are available. You may be surprised to see what types of dogs people give up.
Hmmm all good points! Ill push it till Christmas, but ima get the hardtop! What if she breaks up with me? What am I going to say give me that dog back? She should be me a damn supercharger...
Pets area huge responsibility. I don't know how old you guys are, but if you're getting a dog because you want one, it's not the right reason. I have a hard time keeping up with my dog at home, luckily I have my family help out too. Imagine walking the dog at least 3 times a day. Then the cost of feeding, cleaning, obedience school, etc. Before you think about a 900 buck pet or any pet besides something that can reside in a cage or aquarium, think about if you have time to care for one. A dog sitting at home all day by itself is a destructive dog. A puppy is worse, it needs constant attention. You have no life for 3 months when you get a puppy because you'll be at home day and night watching it. And I'm not f'n kidding.
