Doors not always unlocking
Hi,
just bought a second hand [1999] Japanese import and really pleased with it apart from often when I stop the doors will not unlock. Its fine 70% of the time but I am now starting to look more foolish hanging out the car and trying to unlock from the outside.
Any clues on what is causing this problem?
Thanks

Are they making the "unlock/lock" sound, but not completely unlocking or locking when you use the remote?
Or are you talking about the key is sometimes not working?
If using the remote (and hearing the actuators), I had the same problem on an old Integra. Had to take the door panel off, and lube all the rods hinges and joints.
If talking about the key, again had the same problem (with the same Integra) I had to pull the tumbler in the door, pull it apart, clean it out and lube it too. Someone had shot at least a tube of graphite lube in them, and had gummed it up.
If the ley, it could also be a worn out key or tumbler. You can either replace the key and tumbler, or do what I did, and file the tumblers down. Ya not as secure, but it's not like anyone wanting to steal it will try to pick the lock.
