[QUOTE=Initial D God Hand WannaBEE,Feb 20 2007, 11:54 PM] LoOlL no my S is black......i really like drifting but like i said, the S is not the best car for it...my planes for the S are not drifting more like ( DRIFT GRIP ) LoOlL did you get that.... i am the biggest Initial D fan for sure...iVe always liked anime anyways.......i would like to get another car for drifting and set my S up for track....but the way i figure it practicing drifting with the S will help me know
The S2000 is the perfect anti-drift machine. Why can't we just accept that? There are millions of Mustangs and Camaros just waiting to get beat to hell, go use one of those. They are set up for drifting right out of the box.
6 month old kumho asx's and cold a$$ korean weather in my ap1 = driftu. I have to U turn to get into my usual parking spot and the S doesn't have the turning radius to make it all the way sooo . . . A little extra power puts it just about where I want to go
These tires are sooo crapy in the cold that I have to watch it upshifting into second, even with no vtec it gets a little loose.
These tires are sooo crapy in the cold that I have to watch it upshifting into second, even with no vtec it gets a little loose.
An important note with the buildup of the AEM drift car (if you ever want to get into competition that is) is that they swapped the s2000 electronic assisted steering rack for a regular power assisted rx7 (fd3s) steering rack. The reason is that the stock S rack does not have as tight of a steering angle from lock to lock (good for racing, bad for drifting) so you can not recover and control as deep of an angle.
Also keep in mind that stiffer suspension is not always better for drifting. While it may make it easier to break traction with power over, you want some body roll to help with transfering the weight off your rear wheels for a more fluid transition. Practice initiating a drift with either breaking (transfering weight to front wheels just as you turn in) or with a scandinavian flick (quick left before turning right) to swing the tail out.
Above all else practice somewhere safe first, and always have room for a margin of error.
