well, i have a few things to say, i agree with you, these cars are as stout as they come when your talking convertibles. a guy here in vegas, flipped his, no joke, like 18 times, and he walked away. then today, sunday, a lady pulled out in front of me, at 50 mph, blind spot, for her, i hit her with almost no brakes, totaled my car, and i stepped out without a scratch. both bags went off , seatbelt went off etc. as i type this i hurt, but ill be ok, and its all thanx to the bad ass car we all know and love. believe me, i will be getting an 04 now. mine was a 02, with 6500 miles, mint condition. so all of you should feel safe. be very careful, and your best bet, is to practice as much as you can, the S is a very twitchy tailed car, and as many of you have experienced it will swap ends quick. get some good tires s03's and slide the car alot so you know the feel of it. anyways, sad as two S's died this weekend. i hope the slaughter doesnt continue. take it easy all. dave

Driving roads like that on S-02 tyres
When you get the replacement car, please put some winter tyres on it!

Well let me start by saying I'm not trying to attack any one here. To answer some questions, Yes White_s2000@16 does mean I was 16 when i got the car i am now 17, not that its a big difference. I did not mean for my name to antagonize any one, I thought it told something that is unique about me. But Please don't judge me based on stereotypes you have of teen agers, all i ask is you judge me based on what I say and do. Your know probably thinking to your self well you are some dumb kid, look at what you did to your car. I don't want this thread to become a debate of weather the accident happened because i was 17 or not. Also think of how lucky I am for being 17 a bigger guy might of not gotten out of that car. Similarly he might not have been in that position, but if any of us went down that road that day unless you stopped before the ice a similar result would have happened. I posted my story and pics because I wanted everyone to learn something form it, whatever you might take away from this. In my view that is what this forum is for, to share and learn. I know I have a learned countless lessons already, unfortunutley it cost me a car and almost my life. By the way i cant stop saying how amazing all the positive support form everyone is, my hats off to you!

Thanks,
Matt

Matt has a point. I've definitely been guilty of ageism here at times, as it seems the vast number of S2000 crashes resulting from "losing the back end in a corner" seem to be attributable to younger drivers, but in this case, as anyone who had looked carefully at the pic of the ice-covered stretch of road should know, no snow tire would have helped, he really had the misfortune of a crappy bit of road being thrown at him. Whether or not he was driving at proper speed for the conditions is not for me to say, I wasn't there. This time of year in the northeast is dangerous driving for anyone, regardless of type of car, type of tire, or age of driver. And he certainly seems more mature than his years judging by the way he writes, so give the boy some slack people.
