Alright well i have just emailed the pictures to zo6killr of the road how it is today which is about ten degrees warmer than yesterday (30F,20F). Also I was driving yesterday at 1:30pm and not many cars travel this road so the ice was a solid sheet about an inch thick with no tire grooves as there were in these pictures. The policeman told me they were going to salt and sand the road after my accident was cleaned up, well they did I guess. I watched a 90 something accrod almost lose it on the ice this afternoon. The road i was on is called Shaker Woods it connects Sugarland Rd. to Wheile Avenue right before you cross fairfax county parkway. Funny you should mention georgetown pike, I drove that road to school everyday into Langley HS.

Thanks,
Matt

No. I can't recall for certain but I think there are 4 or 6 front impact sensors. More than one of these must be effected for the airbags to deploy.

That car is totaled....and if for ANY reason the insurance company tells you it isn't, make sure you specify you want it back just as before the accident, and make sure you make it very clear that you will send it back every single time if it is not done to your satisfaction....this is very important.

Here are the new pics...I have deleted the old ones as they were duplicates...

just goes to show:

cold weather + S02's + driving beyond road conditions =

costly mistake.

Glad you're ok Matt, hope the insurance and write off/repairs are handled quickly and to your satisfaction.
Looks like your were really unlucky there, parts of the road were in bright sunshine and dry, and parts were shaded and still icy.

You ask about the motor. It seems that a lot of oil has leaked. If it's not started since the accident or when the car was upside down, no damage has been done to the motor.

I wouldn't be so sure about "no damage to the motor." The fender well is pretty misshapen and appears to have intruded on the engine compartment.
