i don't know. hitting a brick wall at 45mph is A LOT different than hitting a tree and a telephone pole at 45mph. The trees and the poles will just kill you. you can't win with it. I've seen a lot of people get hurt bad or die from hitting a tree.

If I had a choice, which we don't, I would take a flat brick wall any day over a tree. Tree kills.

to put it simply, the difference is, where a brick wall would be like getting hit in the face with a punching gloves, to where a tree or a pole would be getting stabbed with a knife. very different.
I agree. Trees are deadly.
So sad to see younger drivers perish in an unfortunate accident like that.
Rest in peace.

This is sad and tragic, but I blame the parents for letting their kid own such a car

I know some kid are responsible enough to handle it, but most are not and I for one would not take that risk with my kids.

As an example: When I was 17 years old I owned a 400hp '89 Mustang GT. My parents thought that since I had been into motorcycle racing and some other forms of ameture racing that I was responsible enough. And I was for the most part, until we won our homecoming game my senior year. We all got drunk as most kids do when they celebrate and on my way home that night I ended up with my pride and joy around a pole

I don't even remember how it all happened. I am just glad I made it out ok!

is it just me or that does not look like a 45mph crash? I had two accidents both in my teen one at 50mph and the other at 90+. Notice how the back end is lifted up I don't think a 50mph can cause all of that.

I like how they said speed wasn't likely a factor.
That's ridiculous. Look at that car. You have to really be moving to tear up a car that badly, even if you hit trees (which are about the worst things you can hit in a car accident).

The boys could have been travailing at 50 MPH (not speeding) maybe swerved to avoid something in the road, and lost it. Momentum probably played a roll in this too and easily put the car into the trees at 60 + MPH.
WTF? Please explain how they can be going 50, spin the car, and impact at 60. You don't gain speed when you start sliding around, you lose speed.

Very sad for all involved. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends.

Unfortunately, cars like ours can be dangerous if not driven properly. Be careful out there everyone.
