drive shaft spacer's
There is a long thread in the "Under the Hood" forum, which analyzes spacers. Bottom line...more than likely neither the ap1 nor the ap2 need them.
They can be useful when you drop a higher milage s2k (ap2 included). As the inner CV gets more miles, a pattern wears into the bearing surface. When you lower the car, the roller bearing inside the CV shift and trammel between the old wear spot and the new. This causes vibration.
You can use a spacer to move the roller bearing far enough away from the old wear spot so that it will not trammel. You can also swap inner CV from right to left and vis versa to give a fresh bearing surface for the roller to ride on.
This is true for both the ap1 & ap2. To stop the myth...the ap1 & ap2 uses the same axle (including inner cv). The width of the ap1 & ap2 diff from flange to flange is exactly the same.
