DRIVE BY WIRE
its not cool, just a way to operate the throttle body so that traction control can cut power if it needs to. Its a recent technology, and many still feel that cable is superior due to a better throttle feel. I am among those people.
if someone conducted a blind test where an individual drove an ap2 w/o dbw and then w/ dbw, i bet they couldn't tell the difference. plus 06+ came with vsa which is a great safety addition especially if you drive in bad weather. biggest downside to these years are that dbw can make some engine mods a tad more difficult.

this enables the car to have VSA, which is more significant. it is a traction control system that keeps the car going where it's pointed. it can cut throttle and/or brake any wheel individually to keep the car going in the direction it's being steered into. there are conditions where it can become intrusive, but it can be turned off.
from 05 to 06, the rims are different, the ECU obviously needed to be tweaked to allow for DBW, and the spring rates are a bit different. but the addition of VSA is by far the biggest functional difference between previous models and 2006+ S2000s.

cmon guys, you do notice it, and i did drive s2k's with and without back to back in my search for the car. While its not as bad as some other cars, its still noticeable.
My friends 6 speed TSX is very noticeable.
