Electronics fail? Just because a cable breaks, doesn't mean it's going to happen in every car. I've had six cars all with cables, hundreds of thousands of miles driven, and never had a cable break. One bad experience does not denote a trend.

I've been a mechanic my hole life and only heard of a few issues with cables. on the other hand I deal with electric throttle bodes and pps going bad every day.
