Drive by wire or mechanical
Both win.
Old school throttle will be sought after in 10-15 years because so many cars will be driven by a computer and people will even scoff at dbw
DBW because of the flash and tune which will give you more power and lower vtec.

My 2006 Acura TL had a DBW, and there was most definitely a minuscule lag time when I pressed the gas pedal. Having not driven an '06+ AP2, I can't comment on its DBW system.
As of now, I am partial to DBC. There are some things on the car that should be electronically administered, and there are some that should be mechanically operated to retain a solid connection with the car. The throttle falls under the latter.

The older I get (39) and the newer cars get, the more I find myself appreciating the simple mechanical approach to making a car go fast. Maybe I just like the driver interface in a more analog experience. Even a DBW s2k is raw-ish compared to new cars coming out today and definitely in the future the way the technology trend is going. We are getting away from the driving experience for the sake of higher level of performance and efficiency. Don’t get me wrong, I am all about the performance numbers and even good efficiency, but when it starts taking the drivers experience away through aids and gadgetry, I start to push back. I really don’t like an electronic assisted anything in my driving experience. I’ve had my 01 for 12 years now and plan on having it 12 more at least, if not until I can’t physically drive it anymore due to old age.

Had an 09 Accord Coupe with a 4 banger and stick. It had about a 5 second delay in the throttle inputs with the DBW and sucked big time. Traded it in for an 06 S2000. Driven both S2000's and really can't tell a difference. Both work well.
Hondata included a "Stock" Optimization/Tuned map. It made a noticeable difference on a bone stock AP2. Instant difference with a click of a mouse. A full tune that caters to your mods are always beneficial but just throwing it out there that the included "Maps" provided by Hondata are good enough.
