Drove it for the first time
Yeah, maybe not. But, it is def the fastest car I've ever driven or owned. On the rare occasion whenever I mess around with redline, I find myself well over 110mph in a jiffy.
Isn't it faster than many sport cars of the same year (eg: same year cayman/boxster, mustang gt, bmw 3 series, lexus is, etc., etc.)? I'd love to see a list of other same year sports cars that the S2k is faster than. I'm sure there are plenty. MY00-02 is a fair year to compare other cars to (since MY03-08 didn't really improve on speed).

I had my name first on the list for a S2000 the weekend it came out in 1999. They weren't going to let me test drive it. I said I wouldn't buy a car without driving it first, so a young salesman and I went for a test drive. I remember I went 113 MPH, went back to the dealer and signed the papers.
I've had an S2000 for 12 years now.
My daily is a 2013 BMW 135i DCT with PPK, a high-torque beastie. I drive my (now supercharged) S2000 about 2000 miles a year. I look forward to it every time.
I pay $1800 per year to park my 14 year old car. This is the madness that is S2000 ownership.

Please don't take me the wrong way.
No it's not fast. It's quick. The motor and gear box are a blast. On the track it's a joy to throw around the turns. But you have to really work it. That's the joy it has. On the street the motor needs to be revved out and in heat soak conditions feels really under powered.
In today's market there are many sedans that will out perform it in 0-60 and 1/4 mile. Having track/autox and road tripped a s2k for about 100k it feels like it really needs a SC.
Maybe some of the thrill for new owners is the RWD. Mine was an 04 and I was mindful of the lack of nannies.
It's a great car and I loved every mile, including the last mile to the new owner. Cost me nothing to own. And it was driven very hard.
First drive was awesome (and a little intimidating).
Wasn't until the next day that I hit VTEC.
I think it was probably a couple weeks until I took it up to its red line. In the beginning, it feels very unnatural to rev an engine that high.

Yes, very intimidating the first drive and first couple days/weeks for me. Mostly due to it's super sharp and super sensitive direct on-center steering compared to many other cars (that don't really move until you move the steering wheel +5" off-center). And also the over-steery characteristics is indeed intimidating as well. After a month or 2, you get used to it and get very comfortable with it.
