Default Drowned Engine Worth?

Hey guys,

I have an fairly new AP1 (05) Engine (20,000Km on the clock [12k miles]) that i believe blew a con rod with some water ingestion.

Question is, is anything from that engine salvageable, and would anyone be interested in purchasing parts from it. If not, i would probably dump it.

Water only went up to door sills, not full submersion.

Only to the door sills? That really shouldn't have been high enough for water to enter the engine in any way... Sure it has water damage?

If it is damaged, I'd be fairly willing to bet that the cylinder head is fine.

Where are you located to have a 2005 AP1? Not USA.

That's why I'm asking.

It's easier to sell a parts engine in the US. Since he was talking about a 2L AP2, it would impact how much the engine is worth. Not much of a S2000 parts market in Uruguay....

Door sills would be enough with a CAI

I'd venture a guess at the who thing being worth more than scrapping it!

If you had CAI and saw a puddle/lake that was door high, would you go through it? I would park that baby right there and walk my a$$ home.

There are decent amount of people that would build it into a serious motor

NO Cai, but there was a deep enough flood, that i couldnt stop to back out if ( the road suddenly dipped deep) and that enough splashage occured to seize it.

Located in asia, car came from Japan one of the last Ap1's to come out from Jap

so if no ones really interested in it, i might just dump the engine.

Strange... Find out how much it would cost to crate and ship to U.S, then see who would cover the cost + your time + some money in your pocket

I could see you get 1000+ US for it
