You shouldn't be dyno'ing your car from the lot.... show the thing some love and break it in correctly but I guess its sorta late for that now.
well I drove the piss out of my 2001 the moment it was in my possession

One last thing; I told the sales manager and the techs at the dealership (when I went to trade cars for this one) that I wasnt going to do the trade if this car dynoed much lower than the last one. They were like "ok go dyno it and let us know."

well I've never heard any engine builder say.. hey, I just finished the motor, go give it hell. True Honda isn't going to make you do some crazy break-in. But taking the thing to redline the first day or so sure isn't helping insure everything is in order. I'm always one to take precautionary measures as a second step. I don't think a lot of the respected mechanics on the board tell people to not vtec for X number of miles to waste their breathe. Hopefully it'll be like your 01 though and not have an issue.

i know its all personal preference

BTW, when we get done with new engines, we let the car run for 15 mins, back it out of the bay and get it on the dyno and tune upto redline.

about .05 miles of breakin

I don't know about that, I once overheard Sonny Leonard say something to the effect of "Run the piss out of it, if it's gonna break I want it to break the first time out". Never the less, I ed my S for the first 600 miles.

My car is bone stock with the exception of pad's and fluid. I chose a semi-aggressive break-in procedure for my car. I VTEC'ed the very first day, but with common sense. I redlined it after about 7 day's, but for a very, very brief amount of time as I was up shifting from 2nd gear.

This dyno was done at 5,200 miles. This is not a good pic, but I dynoed at 206 RWHP. My car was considerably faster at 6,500 mile's than it was at 2,000 mile's.

are you ever not a dick?
if you visited street encounters, you would see why steve made the statement he did. was he being sarcastically blunt? yes. being a d*ck? no.

unless of course you think that intake, hondata headgasket, and test pipe will give an S2000 275hp.

I don't ever go into street encounters usually, too much that goes on in there and retards. I just have never seen him post anything positive at all, its always him bashing someone and it gets really old.

Don't ya know the Hondata headgasket adds like 50 whp.. I had a guy tell me the VAFC added 50.. I was like.. uuuhhhh... OOOHHHkay....

I got my '00 with about 15 miles on it. I was redlining that same day. After 77k miles, no issues.

YMMV.
