I don't see how these are illegal? In no way shape or form do they inhibit siren noises into the human ear.

Well, try explaining that one to the cop.

What does your local law say?
Does it say you can stick something in your ear while driving?
Is there a law against ear plugs in a car (most likely, yes)?
Is there a law against headphones in a car (most likely, yes)?

Which category do these Ultimate Ears fall under?

The law does not care what type, how advanced or how many dBs it lets in at whatever frequency range.

Ear plugs are ear plugs, headphones are headphones, end of story.

There is an exception to this law for motorcycles in most states however where certain types are allowed while others are not. But that's on 2 wheels, not 4.

If you are on the side of the road to tell the cop then obviously they did not inhibit your ability to see/hear him. Same goes for an ambulance or fire truck.

No I am not talking about those things posted above (ultimate ears), I am referring to the pieces of foam I have in my ears posted above.

Doesn't matter what it is, what does your law say?

There is no MA law against ear plugs.

But that's MA, not everywhere else.

so angry. why?

i just tried drivin around some more with the plugs and the results are amazing. it's almost like im driving a bentley that can handle like a kart. i know it's illegal, but it serious opens up a large window of opportunity i didn't feel existed before (ie roadtrips, etc)

I'm not angry, just want you to be aware that you may be breaking the law. Combine that with the other laws you might break while driving and your $1.50 ear plugs may end up costing you $200.

Do you speed? Surely you don't slow down just because you are "breaking" the law. In fact if I took a cop for a 1000 ride from MA to TN he might think the ear plugs were quite a good idea after all.

wow i'd never though people would use earplugs for the s2k. Maybe it's because I have a hardtop, so there isn't much wind noise. =)
