The easiest door-panel speaker upgrade
I'm deaf, so upgrading the stock speakers in my S2000 (MY 2000) was not a high priority. But I finally took pity on my wife and daughter, who can hear about as well as the average bat. On the other hand, I had to accomodate the fact that I'm basically cheap, lazy, and a wimp about cutting up my car. I didn't want to spend a ton of money or do any scary speaker-basket cutting, rewiring, or anything else that resembled real work.
So I ordered a pair of Honda replacement coaxial speakers from H and A. (I assume these are what they're now putting in new S2Ks.) They're made by Pioneer but have Honda part numbers, and are plug-compatible with the miserable stockers. Just take the old ones out and use them as frisbees, and pop the new ones in.
It worked like a charm. The whole installation took an hour and that's only because I was being really careful with the door panels and attentive to my beer. The difference in sound is impressive, even to somebody who can't hear doorbells or alarm clocks. My wife is really pleased and once again thinks I'm an impressive guy for taking on such a difficult thing. Heh, heh.
The speakers are about $47 plus shipping from H&A. I strongly recommend them for people like me who want better sound, but not THAT much better.
And the old speakers do make pretty good frisbees.
