There's no doubt the seller made a mistake and did something a bit dodgey to avoid great loss.

And you are out a bit of effort. You counted chickens that hadn't yet hatched.

But ask yourself this. If you had posted a $6K item without a reserve expecting it to reach $5K and at 8 minutes to go it was only at $2K what would you do?

He didn't put areserve because of the pricing stucture to sell things on ebay. You get charged based on reserve price if it doesn't sell.

If you really have a problem wth it complain to Ebay.

That wasn't the question. Or have you never made a mistake?

What I was trying to say was, he wouldn't have to worry about panicing at the last minute if he put a reserve on the turbo, bottom line. -Chris

Yes, but for whatever reason, he didn't. So what would you do in that situation. Unless you have access to a time machine I'd expect you'd do the same as him.

In reality, the seller can do whatever the hell he wants to. Even if the auction ended for $2k, he could tell you to eat it, and he's not selling it for that price. What could you do? Leave negative feedback? Who cares? The seller isn't going to take a drastic loss like that.

I agree, but do that enough and you'll work up a reputation for yourself quick. Just take the precautions next time so this doesn't happen. -Chris
